Germany’s legendary striker Gerd Muller passed away on Sunday meaning the soccer world has lost yet another world cup winner after the passing of Maradona and Rossi in the past year. The former Bayern striker, nicknamed Der Bomber, scored an incredible 555 goals in just over 600 appearances for the Bavarians(a 0.9 goals per game ratio) and is the all time leading goal scorer in the Bundesliga with 365 goals. Up until Ronaldo Nazario overtook him in World Cup Germany 2006 and countryman Miroslav Klose in Brazil 2014, he was the all time leading goal scorer in World Cups with 14 goals. His turn and shoot goal against Johan Cruyff’s Netherlands won then West Germany the world cup on home soil in 1974 ending a 20 year wait. He had uncanny ability to find space in the box even with a host of defenders around. For me he was the German version of Maradona(or Messi even). REST IN POWER LEGEND.
