Coco Gauff’s defeat to the Jil Teichmann 6-3 6-3 in the Dubai quarters was mostly due to her failure to challenge Jil’s second serve. Unlike her match in the previous round , she did not dominate the net. Case in point, watch 2-2(40-30 in favor of Jil). Coco was made to pay by the Swiss for the unforced errors in that eighth game of the first. Coco surprisingly did not manage to break Jil’s serve in this match despite having three opportunities to do so. Jil was not exactly cruising in this match. She had a lot of deuce games in this match on her serve. Coco just was not able to convert the chances that came her way, producing the poor hit when it mattered the most.
